Online advertising seems to come around every time we talk about marketing strategies. And you are doing everything you can when you take into account all the tools, especially social media ads. This means, if you want to promote something, you should start advertising on Facebook and Instagram.

Facebook and Instagram are two social media marketing tools. When used in a professional way, they direct traffic to your website and lead customers into your restaurant. Ads on social media reach a lot of people, but the important thing is for the right users to see them. Because social media platforms collect data from users, this is a done deal. Be patient, you will learn more about this.

Facebook makes it easy to advertise

Facebook ads aren’t new, but in 2013, Mark Zuckerberg’s team made it even easier to promote your restaurant and what you offer. Many people have tried to take advantage of this platform only to find themselves creating Facebook ads without a goal in mind.

Facebook offers the possibility of “objective-based ad buying” which helps simplify the whole process. Facebook asks you what the goal of your ad is before you launch it. You can choose from:

  • Clicks to Website
  • Website Conversions
  • Page Post Engagement
  • Page Likes
  • App Installs
  • App Engagement
  • In-store Offer claims
  • Event Responses

Then, they recommend a specific type of ad. After you choose it and launch it, you can check if it works the way you want via Facebook’s Ads Manager. But before you get too excited, know that it still has a few bugs.

It appears that the metrics from Facebook’s Ads Manager don’t work the way they should. Sometimes it shows that the ad’s link drives clicks, but your organic links (those found on your official Facebook page) don’t. So make sure you measure everything with other tools to get the right information.

Instagram is catching up in the ads department

In the beginning, this social media website was a hipster’s oasis with vintage-looking pictures. Then, brands seized the opportunity to reach a different target and developed campaigns which soon went viral. Now, Instagram is a marketing tool which will soon have ads.

Instagram is getting a lot of help from its “big brother”, Facebook. Mark Zuckerberg bought Instagram in 2012 and it won’t be long until this platform will also adopt ads as a marketing strategy. And as marketers we couldn’t be happier.

The most important part of these ads is the fact that they are targeted: they use data from both Instagram and Facebook. For example, if a user follows a lot of restaurants on Instagram or on both platforms, then your ads will appear on his first page.

Online ads are important for a brand and Facebook explains it the best. These tools help redirect traffic to your website, they help you develop your social media pages (more likes, comments and followers), and they help promote offers, events, apps and all your services.

It’s time to get on that online horse and start promoting!
